A great guide for night sky photography. Simple and to the point. Not a lot of "filler". Perfect size to take on the go. I have been in the photography business for over 30 years and this book taught me a few new things, yet it's also a great book for the not so experienced photographer. If you want to get out there and shoot the night sky...look no further! Jennifer Wu nailed it!

Very nice overview with practical information on how to plan and prepare for night photography. However, there are a number of key topics that are missing or only lightly touched upon. In planning for a night shoot the use of apps such as PhotoPills are an essential tool in conjunction with GPS apps. The guide only provides a high level pass at post processing and doesn't discuss tools such as stacking images to increase the signal to noise ratio. And, the guide doesn't talk at all about using tracking devices with your camera. So, a good basic overview for the novice.

I always loved photography and planned on one day getting a nice camera and taking some wonderful shots of the sky but when I did they looked nothing like the ones I see online so I bought this book and while I'm no where near a pro thankfully I can now take some beautiful pictures showing the milky way, I can paint with light, and I can make star trails.

Jennifer Wu is an amazing nature and landscape photographer, truly an artist. She has taken some of the most beautiful photographs of the night sky including the Milky Way galaxy, the aurora borealis, and the moon (go to her website and look at her portfolio). Now with this book she teaches how to take extraordinary nighttime landscapes with your DSLR, capturing the beauty of the night sky and revealing more majesty than our eyes can see! This book is detailed, and organized to answer all your questions, it provides important information about post processing using Photoshop and Lightroom working with the RAW files to achieve the highest quality. After reading this book, I went out on a perfectly clear night before dawn and took some of the most amazing photographs I ever have. This book has opened up a new world of photographic possibilities to me. If you have looked with awe at beautiful night landscape photographs such as those taken by Jennifer Wu and wondered exactly how to do it, wonder no longer, this book explains everything!

This book is really good. I doubt anyone could do better. Everything you can think of is covered. Very few people will master everything in this book. That being said, it is written in plain English and easy to understand. There is just a lot of stuff. You will never have to buy another book.This is really for a serious photographer. Someone with a sturdy tripod, an SLR (preferably full frame) with high ISO, and a good wide angle lens or lenses.

I am a novice photographer and have never taken any formal courses or training in photography. My interest in photography is as a hobby and as I am a physician I have limited free time so I needed a nuts and bolts guide to get me on the right track. Right out of the box I took this book and my camera gear on a long summer weekend to Beaufort, NC where on a clear night you may still see the Milky Way and wanted to take some long exposure night shots. I spent some time reading this book and dog-eared the pages I needed and once I was set up I was able to shoot manual bulb exposures using my DSLR that I would not have easily done fumbling around on the internet trying to find simple recipes for shooting particular night sky phenomena. I was able to shoot the Milky Way (looks way more impressive on an HD TV than I ever thought it would), star trails, and have since captured several long duration exposures of the International Space Station over my home in Raleigh. One I knew how to set the camera up the only thing I needed to know was what I wanted to shoot and when.Admittedly, these techniques are quite simple once you understand how to set-up the camera. The thing I lacked was a "guru" who could simply provide the "secrets" on how to take the shots.This book met my needs and as the title indicates, it is a field guide.

Fabulous, easy to understand field guide for night photography! Jennifer covers many, many aspects of night photography - not just star trails and the moon... Very informative, includes "settings to start with" for most applications. She goes into enough detail so that you can understand and implement the technique, but in a way that is not so technical that you are confused. This is an excellent reference and field guide that will always be in my bag as my "go to" reference for night shooting!

Well writen, with a lot of personas and very useful tips.Lots of pics .I star reading night photograph since ISO 800 film . I made and used my “absolut accurate” woden self made star tracker .It was imperative to manualy rotante it for at least 2 or 4 min, to get waht we have today w/ ISO 8000 30sec f2.0 !!!Great begining book!

As a swimmer myself from a young age...there's much I can relate to. This book has so many waves and ebb and flow that forever one can see her vision near and far. Appreciating how she put one foot and one arm in front of the other leading to a destination of hope and desire to succeed with much honor. I'm glad she wrote her book and in between each line one can keep a float turning the next page waiting.

I've never written a book review before, but this book is just so stunningly beautiful. It's almost like she's painting the words on the page. At times you feel like you're actually inside her head, which was fascinating and intense. More than once I had to reread a sentence or paragraph - several times over - because it was so striking. All the feels. Did not want this book to end <3

This is written with raw, blunt feelings. It is heart breaking and uplifting at the same time. I did not want it to end. I read it in two days. I am looking forward to re-reading. I hope Casey Legler shares more of her story with us.

This was just a brutal autobiography. Godspeed tracks Legler's youth from a swimming prodigy to Olympian to addict, and the prose style follows her mental status: as an awkward teenager with undiagnosed Asperger's Syndrome who begins to make questionable choices in order to feel "normal," the prose is also awkward and confusing; as she begins to spiral into depression and nihilism where even her Olympic experience feels meaningless, the writing nonchalant; as a college student who descends into horrifying addiction and madness, the story is chaotic and nearly incomprehensible at times. Throughout it all, Legler writes with a profound detachment, as if she is only watching all of these things happen and not actually experiencing or participating - and this does make it a little difficult as a reader to feel engaged with the story. Regardless, Legler definitely has a way with words.

A poetic and painful journey into the interior of sports. Book is anchored by the author’s resilience - a page-turner.

I'm a new OR nurse, and my orientation is a bit lacking in specifics. The information I really wanted from my fellowship seems to be contained in this book. It's written in clear language and it's very sensible. Plus there's some neat history. I really, really enjoy reading it. Which is more than I can say for most textbooks.

almost all the questions in Pocket Prep for CNOR have a question/answer reference from this book. if you're studying to take the CNOR exam, I'd get this book to study from!

If you work in the operating room, you really should own this book. It is loaded with excellent information and narrative.

I used Berry & Kohn's Operating Room Technique in nursing school 26 years ago and it is STILL the best text there is about perioperative nursing. This text ranges from basic Aseptic Technique to the more complex surgical procedures. Positioning, procedures, and practice guides make this a must have for anyone in the field of surgery, whether they are a surgical tech, an RN, or an educator. I use it in planning inservices for staff development.

Book arrived in flawless condition. Shipping took a little longer than I would have liked but other than that perfect!I was pleasantly surprised that the flashcards were intact.

This is a great book for the novice perioperative nurse. Recommend this to all nurses preparing for the CNOR exam.

If you are an operating room nurse or surgical technician then this is the book for you. This has been the golden standard for information on Operating Room techniques for years. The information is accurate and reliable.

This book is ok, but apparently the first section is dedicated to Surgical RN's which you won't be reading as a Surgical Tech. student. When you did get to the Surgical tech. information, I felt it could've been a little more specific in some areas.
