The new characters for this book were all interesting and I wanted to know everything about them. Descriptions of the surroundings were vivid and crisp, it was easy to visualise the story as I was reading it.The book moved along at a decent pace with enough twists and turns to keep the reader engrossed and turning the pages. The sub-plots were written just as well as the main plot and everything was neatly wrapped up at the end. The last chapter was a nice touch. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will be looking forward to reading more of this series.Author, Melissa F. Miller writes several other series you should read while waiting for the next Bodhi King Novel: Sasha McCandless Legal Thrillers, Aroostine Higgins Novels and We Sisters Three Mysteries.The one exception: There were a few mistakes in this book. The worst one was "IN the meantime, Chief Clark formally interviewed formal interview about the night the Russian tried to kill her." WHAT?

The Bodhi King novels are great for a lot of reasons. Bodhi is a well-developed character. He is unique both in how he solves crimes and in how he does it while sticking to his beliefs. And he finds ways to beat his enemies while staying calm and composed.Hidden Party has all the great characteristics of the first two books in this series. But it isn't just a replay of the other books. Melissa Miller spins a great tale by using unique settings and problems Bodhi needs to work in. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down until it was finished. I would recommend reading it.

What more can I say about the Bodhi King series in particular and Melissa’s writing in general!Bodhi travels to a Buddhist monastery in a small Illinois town to take part in a week-long retreat. But he is sidetracked by two murders involving the monastery and his plans for a peaceful retreat go awry. As always Bohdi gets involved in solving these murders thus revealing his deep faith and compassion!Read the whole book—it will be well worth the time!

This is the second book in the bodhi king series. The introduction to bodhi occurred in the Sasha McAndless series and I’ve enjoyed them all. Well developed characters and intriguing plots could mbine for thoroughly satisfying reading.

I believe I have read every book that Melissa has published and enjoy them all. I did not find this one as great as some of the previous ones, but it was great and I continue to look forward to her future publications. I am a fan....

Can't wait for the next one I this series. I love Bodhi. I enjoyed the story line and interwoven plots with the Buddhist beliefs that Bodhi follows. I love all of Melissa F Miller's characters. Highly recommended series. Recommended author.

Bohdi King is just as interesting in this book as in the previous 2. Interesting premise (the whole GMO thing) including the spying characters. This is 3rd and have enjoyed all of them so far. At least Bohdi is not TSTL in his actions most of the time.

The story involves murder and corporate espionage. Bohdi King is caught up in the circumstances surrounding the mysteries. He had come to a retreat to rethink his position on living solely for his work. That also figures into the story. The suspense builds to an exciting crisis and has an abrupt but satisfying ending.

I know quite a few of the researchers that were involved in reverse engineering Stuxnet and Flame - so I was able to watch the story unfold with a behind the scenes view - what's presented in here is a very accurate, and insightful view of one of the most important security discoveries in recent years.Stuxnet, et. al. presented the security industry with a huge problem - and the implications are still being sorted out to this day. Government use of malware, and how the industry should handle it when discovered are topics that are still being debated on a daily basis. Kim does a great job on explaining the issues, and giving readers plenty to think about.From a technical perspective, the book goes into enough detail so that those of us familiar with the topic know exactly what is being discussed and it's implications, while not going overboard and overloading non-technical users with incomprehensible details. The book has a good narrative style, while covering technical detail and including details on the sources for information. Throughout the book are footnotes that list source information, additional notes that explain context, or provide additional details that don't fit in the narrative telling - I strongly suggest that you read the footnotes, as they offer very useful information.All in all, I strongly recommend the book, well worth it.

This book is an examination of Stuxnet and related tools such as Duqu and Flame. In that capacity it is detailed and exhaustive--perhaps to a fault. On the whole, however, the story is fascinating and Kim Zetter does a great job telling it.But more than just Stuxnet, the book examines the intersection of infrastructure and malware, and the growing military-cyber complex. This area of focus leads to perhaps the most interesting sections of the book. The chapter on vulnerabilities in US infrastructure is a real eye-opener.Either one of these topics would make the book a must-read for those interested or involved in security and cyber warfare. Having both of them together, marshaled by an excellent author, is a real treat.

This book is superbly researched and is written clearly and interestingly. It is quite outstanding in these two respects. To follow it, you will need to know a little bit about how computers and the internet work, but you don't need to know the technical parts. You do need to be a person who can cope with the technical terms and processes that are presented and described as you read along. Given that most readers will know how the story turned out, the author does a great job of maintaining the suspense of how the investigators (and the creators) did their work.Toward the end I found it a little less interesting, but that was o.k. I had learned so much more than I set out to learn.The Kindle version is very well implemented. You can check a footnote or a definition and go back to the text.I am going to repeat myself and say that this book is a model of both research and of technical writing.

This book opens up the secretive world of Cyber War. What surprised me what the level of investigation and research done by the author. The writer provides in-depth and detailed description of the investigation that exposed the Stuxnet, its inner working as well as its creator. The story is fascinating and offers many previously unknown and unpublished details that likely to shock most readers. This is truly a ground breaking work on Cyber Warfare. If there is a criticism, it is the length and sometimes unnecessary details. A little editing and pruning would have helped, especially to non-technical readers. However on the whole, this is a wonderful book that I would strongly recommend to all those interested understanding how Cyber Warfare is waged.

I really liked this read. A few months ago, I got interested in all of what went down with the Stuxnet virus and was looking for something that would explain the events surrounding it and how it worked. This book did a great job in both capacities. It was entertaining and quite informative not only about the virus itself but also the culture of exploits seekers (think: those who try to find vulnerabilities in software). It also went into detail about the history of attacks on industrial machinery and the hypothetical concerns that are present in the future of this threat given the current infrastructure in place and what's being done on a public level to mitigate the risks. I'd recommend it for anyone that wants a thorough investigation and an interesting look at the culture involved in finding, exploiting and thwarting vulnerabilities on a worldwide scale.

I remembered my days in the late 80's when on my free time I deciphered the first viruses, built disassemblers and my own anti-virus, and shared it freely with the local community. Then, with polymorphics, the problem became too complex and time-intensive, I had to let it down just when the first commercial solutions became available. Kim Zetter wrote a beautiful book accompanying step by step the discovery and analysis of the largest (up today) computer virus. I understood that a large part was built with compilers and not handcrafted by vicious assembly language programmers: the disassembly could have been a lot more nightmarish. Stuxnet was the first computer weapon, we will see more of them in the future. The platform on which it thrives is no more adequate for serious work. Way too complex to be understood and above all to control anything. Advice to the military and really conscious process control builders: if you cannot decompile the whole system (Operating System included) and match it with the nicely commented source code, you are doomed.This book will win a honor place alongside Tracy Kidder's "The Soul of a New Machine" on my bookshelf.

Helpful. Lots of sample questions and responses, with some explanation I think of what they might be looking for with certain questions. Hard to say if it helped me passed the Oral Board, as they asked many questions this old book didn't think of asking...seems like it needs to be updated to reflect the current cultural climate around use of force and racial bias that many Police Departments are being forced to be sensitive to in light of the BLM movement. Ultimately, I'd say being firmly rooted in my own conviction in my self, my skills, my values and inspiration to become a police officer was more useful than this book. But, it certainly would not hurt to prepare oneself by reading through this to understand what an applicant might expect.

I'm currently applying for police careers. I used this book based on a recommendation from an officer I recently did a ride-along with. This proved to be an easy-to-use and understand resource. Two of the questions which were on my recent oral board interview were in this book. Sure, most of the questions weren't, but this is to be expected in that there are over one hundred questions. This book has helped me to thoroughly consider my answers for many possible questions, which translated into having far greater confidence during my interview. It's small and compact, making it easy to carry with me and study while on the go. The only reason I am giving this 4/5 stars is due to the numerous grammatical errors contained in this resource. Not a big deal, but in the spirit of 'attention to detail' being a big deal in police work, I feel anything trying to speak to this should itself set an example. Overall a great resource, a must-have for anyone prepping for their oral board in police work.

This book is great. I've purchased about a half dozen of these type of books and this is the best one by far. For one, it's the most professionally written. But more importantly, it's the largest. Most of these books are around the same price, $10-$18, but are very very thin. This is well over 100 pages, with over 100 questions, when other books only have maybe 12 questions. FYI, if you are interested in more information, there are quite a few other books, DVDs, and youtube videos addressing this topic out there. But in regards to books, this is the best I've seen, bang for your buck.

The author did a good job of gathering and explaining each question. Enjoyed the and learned more from this book than the other books read thus far.

I used this book and just completed my oral board on 24 Feb 2017.I passed with flying colors.I read the book once completely through then skimmed over it in the weeks leading up to my interview.The questions and scenarios asked were not verbatim but they were covered in the book.Excellent read

I felt like I was reading a Buzzfeed article. They even forgot to remove the “click here” hyperlink from the text. Poorly written and incorrect information.

This book is great for practicing your oral boards. It actually gives you questions with answers to consider or think about. The Police oral boards secrets book wasn't helpful for me at all. Hardly any questions to practice. I should have bought this book first.

This is a decent book as far as the information goes. However it was hard for me to read due to spelling and grammatical errors. I have no clue how it was published with that many typos.

I have done a lot of pruning and tree trimming over the years. Recently we moved to an entirely different climate zone with plant I am less familiar with. I saw reviews for this book and decided to purchase it as a reference book. For me it is a waste of time and money. The first 24 pages is the authors philosepy on plants and never gets to the point. After that the book is too broad to really learn much.If you have never pruned a thing in your life, it may be OK. Otherwise, it is a waste. You'd be much better off checking online or YouTube to get some info on the specific plants you intend to prune.

I purchased this book knowing little about pruning but clearly had over an acre of stuff that really needed it. This is a good book for those that want a basic summary and not too much detail and that works fine for me. However, it gets 4 stars because I now have something to compare it to. I recently picked up a pruning book by the American Horticultural Society American Horticultural Society Pruning & Training (American Horticultural Society Practical Guides) at a yard sale and it's by far the better book but it does offer a lot more detail than some may want. It's in color while this book is B&W and the color pics are of some help and it gets 5 stars. Strangely, both books are at odds with each other on several subjects of interest to me such as to when the optimum time to prune is for grapes, lilacs and fruit trees. I'm in the high desert with hot summers, long cold winters and freeze dates in May & September pretty much the norm. I find it pretty ambiguous when a book states to prune something in mid-winter but not when it's so cold that it may be too cold sap loss from a grape cold be too much... and that was in both books. I honestly can't say one is better than the other but I find now that having both is better. If I had to recommend one over the other the American Horticultural Society book would have to be the one.

It's a pretty good all around pruning book. It has a lot of pictures. I was looking for one that had a little more about just pruning fruit trees. Since then, I've been able to attend a couple of pruning classes and that seems to have taught me more than the book. If you know absolutely nothing, it's a good resource but I was looking for more info. I'd really suggest looking for some pruning classes. I've learned a lot in the last five years and not only from classes but just from trial and error.

This was a required book for a basic pruning class toward my Horticulture degree and I must say that it is well worth keeping after the course is finished. Pruning may seem like a simple task to someone who has never taken a class, but once you learn proper technique you can quickly recognize improper technique when gazing upon any tree you see.It's an engaging read that makes you want to keep going and it presents the information in such a simple way that it would be difficult to see why anyone would make improper cuts after reading it.I recommend this book to students and horticulture enthusiasts who want to learn more about pruning.

Good backup guide, with instructions about how and when to prune a wide variety of trees and shrubs. Not as comprehensive in my opinion as the updated American Horticultural Society Pruning and Training book, but it does provide a good resource and it is clear and concise. I tend to use both books together and use this book as the "second opinion."

I have a small yard. I wanted fruit trees but needed to know if I would be able to handle them and keep them in check. This book was just what I was looking for. When I went to the local nursery they were amazed how I was going to prune them and save over half the price of buying the trees all ready pruned to shape (columnar). I really am excited about all of the different plants and trees that are talked about in this book. It is a real great find.

Great book on general pruning for pretty much any plant or tree you're likely to find in the USA. I bought it for apple tree pruning and found it very good. There are numerous line drawings that get the point across, although I would have liked to have had a couple of actual photos of trees needing pruning, during pruning and after pruning. I also would appreciate a *brief* description and photo of which buds are leaves and which are fruit (there's a reference in there but either it's too vague or I'm too dense :)Well worth the money IMO.

This should be required reading in schools. The negative reviews typically involve devout Christians and other faiths who fear the worship of false idols. This is not a religion, it is a philosophy, about how to treat others, about how to treat yourself, about how to live your life recognizing the causes or suffering, and minimizing or elimininating it for yourself and others. It is about compassion, self-control, and happiness, something we all can and should try to increase in ourselves and others while on this planet. Nothing in here contradicts the teachings of Christ, just the opposite. It can help us understand the Golden Rule and other teachings. Buddhism can be your Cliff Notes for a better understanding of the New Testament. Everyone I have gotten this book for has told me it was as if a blindfold was lifted from their eyes, allowing them to become better people and help others do the same.

I wanted to like this book - I really did - but the author makes too many global assumptions about his readers. Here is an example: "You hit puberty, ready to become that perfect, long, lean, hardbody you see in ads. For about 98% of people, that doesn't happen. You may not have cared much about this when you were younger, but you *really care now*.And another example: "Boys want to be tall and buff. Girls want to be curvaceous and toned." Really?Regrettably, this book misses the mark. With the help of a disciplined editor who can prune the author's tendency to assert absolutes this book can be salvaged, but I cannot recommend it in its current form.

as one part of our vacation, we were fortunate to visit a center in which buddhism is practiced. since my kids had had no exposure to buddhistic beliefs before, i thought that buying and reading this book and then discussing parts of it during the drive, hotel stays, tourist walking, might be neat. the kids were not teens, so, i adapted it a bit. the kids really seemed to appreciate the respect and logical approach. they were attentive at the center. after the center, we went to a restaurant in which they had a few "gambling machines" for kids. i replied to my son's request that if he really insisted on gambling $1, he could, but, if he lost, he had to give me his other $1. he ran out and lost. he gave me his last $1. my daughter came over to me and said that i will attract bad kharma by doing that. then, she gave him her last $1. of course, that night i gave him $1 and he returned $1 to her. so, i guess that she did learn and begin to practice some basic elements of buddhism.that's a long story just to tell you that my kids benefited from this book. i enjoyed reading through it and i enjoyed sharing it with the kids.the book is organized well. it is very informative. it is simple enough for teens to understand. it is fun and engaging! it is well written and edited. I highly recommend this book for younger teens with an interest in buddhism or whose parents / friends might be interested in buddhism. if a parent wants to use this book as a basis for teaching younger children, it can be adapted. adults wishing to read this in order to familiarize themselves with basic tenants might find this book to be light reading. that might be good for many of us!overall, i think that this is an excellent book, and i give i an "A-".

I initially purchased this book for my grandchildren, who are now teenagers. Although only ONE of the THREE has read parts of it, the sections they read did spark informative conversations....and what more could one ask for? I read the book often and truly appreciate its offerings...in easy to read, very informative and engaging ways. I think its appropriate for all ages....and when they are ready...the teens (or perhaps young adults...or even older) will return because I'm keeping it with me! I've also shared it with many of my college students in writing courses and they gobble it up...I highly recommend it!

This book was life changing. I've grown up in a Christian family, and it never worked for me. This book showed me not only a religion I could really feel connected to, but a way of life anyone can follow. I read this whole book in the last 3 hours and I feel...different. It's not like I magically changed over 3 hours, it's like I feel ready to take that step into faith I could never find. All this is thanks to this book. The author of this book deserves way more than a review. He deserves to know how much of an impact he has made to me, and other people who have read this book. Buy this book. It'll change you. For the better.

I give this book four stars.It is a perfect spiritual guide for teens and upwards.It explains Buddhism in a simplistic way as it should, I like many switch off when the subject is taken to the extreme.This is an insightful guide for all those on this journey called life.Best of all it let's everyone know aiming for perfection is impossible and will only cause suffering, detaching from such ideas brings us closer to peace.Oh the joy of that notion!So squeeze Buddha in between your lunch box and laptop and follow the Eightfold path!

Excellent book for young adults struggling through teenage years. Sage wisdom and sound advice for many things! While the book does discuss Buddhism, its history and practice, the advice and perspective is instantly usable for any spirituality or religion. I loved this book!

i think my kids are a little young for this book. It starts out assuming that your kid is rebelling and that there is issues with family matters. I didn't like that part, but it is easy to read for younger people.
