A masterpiece of history and personal triumph woven together. The research in this book is astounding as is the approach to the younger reader. However, any adult can gain a new insight into an event that had an impact on civil rights.

I am a teacher and think this book should be required reading for students in all grades. It is perfect for Black History Month! My wife did not grow up in North America, and English is not her native language. For her it is interesting to read about this event in history, written in a language that is easy to understand with many explanations. Thank you!

I found this book to be a good aid for a first-time-hiker in RMNP last summer. It had been years since I was in the park, and the maps and descriptions in the book were quite useful for the type of day hikes I was doing. It was a basic guide, probably not as helpful as some for serious multi-day hiker/campers, but it worked well for me. The RMNP literature available in Estes Park and from NPS staff at the gates was good, but only went so far. I would recommend this publication to anyone wanting to get a pretty basic overview of the major trails and sights along the way.

There are other guidebooks to hiking in the park, but this is the only one currently in print with hikes in the Indian Peaks wilderness as well. If you have not hiked from the Brainard Lake trailheads or the 4th of July trailhead, you are missing some of the best back country, and best wildflowers, on the front range. Good trail descriptions, adequate maps, good index with distances and elevations.

Compared to the other books in the series this is a disaster. No trail lengths other than an a difficult and awkward table in the back that lists distances between points of interest rather than the trails themselves. No elevation profiles either. The book seems like it was meant to be read in its entirety before planning a trip within the park. The text forces you to read through stories about each trail in order to find bits of information about where the trail begins and ends, how long it is, and other connecting trails. There are a lot of interesting points mentioned regarding the experience along each trail but If I can't use the book to know where I am going it is of no use for trip planning. I have used many other books in this series as guides to trip planning; however, after a couple of hours trying to figure out where or how far I would be going on a single backpacking route I gave up and just switched back to using the Nat Geo topo maps.

A great book for those relatively unfamiliar with Rocky Mountain National Park. While I wish there had been a few more maps through it, I was ableTo supplement the lack of maps with maps from the park once we arrived.

this book is organized more like a long-winded email from a traveling buddy than a hiking guide sold at real stores for real money. I'm all for the anecdotal side of the outdoors, but if I wanted that I would pick up a John Muir journal, not a Falcon guide. The complete lack of structure makes this guide effectively worthless for anyone planning a trip.

This is the least helpful trail guide I have ever purchased. There are no elevations, no distances, no hiking times, no anything that will help you plan a hike. Instead, the author pontificates on why the trail is or is not glorious and offers dubious photography pointers (meter off the sky to get the silhouette of a tree... etc, etc). Don't waste your money on this book if you are trying to figure out things like what time to hit the trail head to arrive at your destination by sunrise, what elevation change you might encounter, how long the hike might take, or just generally if you have better things to do than to try to decipher some guy rambling on about stuff guys ramble on about. I'm sure the author meant well, but this book is extremely frustrating to use while I try to explore the park.

Your Atlanta Travel Guide is an excellent guide to fun in Atlanta. I have been researching for our family vacation and found this book to be an excellent resource. Author N.T. Gore has compiled the best of Atlanta, Georgia into an informative and user friendly book. With information on weather, transit, places to visit, parking, free attractions and more, I have found everything I need to plan our vacation and stay within our budget. I highly recommend it!

N.T. Gore has personally saved my family vacation! I was forced to plan a trip to Atlanta on very short notice this last weekend, so I turned to this book.It covered everything, from getting in, to hotels, to attractions, in a clear and simple manner. It would have taken me hours to find information half as good as this online - I'm so glad I saved myself some time and stress and decided on this book. The vacation was great and stress-free!

Sorry N.T. Gore. I tried to like this book, but I just couldn't. First of all, when you publish a book you should probably get a proof-reader or anyone else to read the book BEFORE you have it printed. My fourth grader couldn't believe how many errors there were and it made it difficult to read. Also, I bought the book because it seemed like it would be a good reference for getting around town. I got more information about Atlanta on-line. This is a book about Atlanta with a couple of suggestions of things to do, but it doesn't compare to any travel book I have ever purchased. A total waste of my money.

How can a travel guide to Altlanta have nothing about sites related to civil rights history or Martin Luther King. It also omits the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library. This is more a pamphlet than a book, especially considering the huge font size used. In what would be typical book font size, the "in depth" coverage of any site that is about half a page, if that. There is no index. Full of typos and misprinted pages. The map has only the major arteries. Only 14 sites total are reviewed, and that includes parks and bike trails.

The "guide" is poorly written and poorly edited. There are almost no maps and very little information. It seems very amateurish and not worth the money.

Has this guy been to Atlanta since the late 90's??? Following some of the suggestions for places to visit could very easily get you mugged, raped, or worse. The author very cheerily recommends Underground Atlanta as a great place for tourists to visit, with the "dozens" of eclectic shops, etc. I just got back from visiting UA and was so disappointed and disheartened! On my way down the steps to get underground, a man sitting on a bench nearby yelled at me "Hey beautiful lady!" And then offered to sell me some jewelry, which I declined. I got into the underground shops and all that was there were some trinkety kiosks like you'd see in the center of a mall: cheap jewelry, air-brush t-shirts, etc. There were a couple clothing stores, but nothing in the windows caught my eye. Halfway through, I took an escalator up to the ground level and saw a ton of empty shops and old night clubs, many with broken windows. I tried to get into the visitors center to get a guide for a walking tour, since I hadn't been able to locate the "architecture" that the author touted, but the center closed at 6. All that I saw that could possibly be construed as "architecture" were some brick walls. So I began a brisk walk back to the hotel. I passed a small park nearby and found myself to be the only Caucasian within sight. Most of the people were respectful, even though they looked at me like I shouldn't be there... Well, all except for one black woman standing on the sidewalk - she was rubbing something on her dirty face and said out loud what everyone else was thinking: "Pret-ty why-te girl."I checked out the reviews for UA on Yelp when I made it back to my hotel, and this "tourist attraction" is rated 2/5 stars, with many reviews noting the personal safety issues. Those up-to-date reviews mince no words in describing the deserted, run-down, dangerous characteristics of this place that the book's author so cheerily recommended. From those reviews, I learned that UA was a great place to visit... In 1998!!!!! That makes this book 16+ years out of date.Do not purchase this book. If I was the author, I would be ashamed of myself, and I would get a good attorney. Someday, someone is going to rely on this book's recommendations and meet personal harm.

Was hoping it would show pictures of what to look for, but because it only lists the words of what to find, my daughter doesn't find it very easy and struggles to find items.I like it though lol but some of those pics are so obscure that without knowing what it looks like that you're trying to find, its a struggle.

After spending $35 for an annual subscription to the Highlights magazine, I discovered that the only thing my daughter liked about it was the Hidden Pictures. So for 1/4 the price, she can have tons of hidden pictures in this one book. Genius! Such a fun time filler for car rides, and quiet time, or something we can work on together.

We got this book for our 9 year old daughter and she loves it! We often work on the pictures as a family. We take the book with us when we eat out at times, and it helps pass the time while waiting on our meal. We are able to find all the hidden pictures though some have taking longer than others. They are very clever drawn into facets of the larger picture. I am amazed at how clever many of the different items have been drawn into parts of other things. She brought the book with her to a dinner out when a friend brought their daughter, and they had a great time in the book wile the adults chatted. Just finishing this one and will order another.

My wife absolutely LOVED getting this in her stocking.We had been talking several times recently about having subs to Highlights when we were young and that the Hidden Pictures were always the first page we'd turn to (next was The Timbertoes lol).This definitely hit the nostalgia in the nose and we're both having a blast going through it!

My husband is pretty much bedridden. These keep his mind active. They're great to take into the office, too. Everyone seems to take a moment to find something; it shifts your thinking a bit. Not a bad idea when the brain needs a break.

The little I nanny for are OBSESSED with these Highlights Hidden Pictures. So much so that 3 days after I gave them this, it was finished. It was challenging, but they had a little help from me and their parents. The boys are ages 6 and 8 so I would suggest it'd be too hard for kids under 5.

My six year old daughter and I usually love doing hidden pictures but this book wasn't very satisfying. The drawings were more like suggestions of an object.

Great book for all ages and is not too difficult so it's great for my mother who has dementia. Keeps her mind active.

And it’s alright to end your book a little early with a cliffhanger. Don’t worry about the words. Nobody really cares about the words. And no one expects to be satisfied. I am not one to normally write a review, especially a negative one about an author I generally have warm feelings towards, however, this one merits a brief poor review (almost as brief as the book itself). My main issue with this book has to do with the value of it, for almost fourteen dollars I received a three hour read that felt at best incomplete. I am no speed reader by any means, at best I read at a slightly above average pace. A slow pace would have a reader finishing this in maybe six hours. At one point I checked on my e-reader how much of the book I had left as I was on the start of chapter 4, I had approximately 20% of the book read at that point. I enjoy the authors style often as it is rather direct and for me light on explaining science (I know, I know "science fiction") but it often is rather enjoyable as a space opera. However, if you are going that route creating such a short story is problematic, especially when it is priced so high for a kindle book. Many others felt this way about the first book in this series and while I saw their point this book only exacerbates this to an unholy degree. I hate to give such a negative review but when I finished it I felt like 1/3 of a book does not merit my time or money. I felt cheated.

He was one hell of a writer, and so I read everything he wrote, despite personally being custard-headed.These books by Mr Salzi are much more inclusive and even handed than that - or, for that matter this review. Mainly because Mr. Scalzi is a far better writer than I am.Science fiction is the literature of ideas. Those ideas come clothed in a good story. But, the best of science fiction asks us to think.I like thinking. That's why I like science fiction. If you don't like thinking, these may not be the right books for you.I think "The Consuming Fire" is going to be nominated for a Hugo. I hope it wins. And I hope the third book in the series is on Mr. Scalzi's writing schedule.

Stories were good though found the women to be rather naive. Axel Maxwell is a hoot, sure has his idiosyncrasies. Author very adept at writing HOT sex scenes. Christian Grey would be fanning himself. Author has had some unusual experiences, reads a lot of sexy stories, or has a very fertile imagination, or all three. Look forward to reading more by her.

Over all it a good series. I liked reading them but was sad at how abruptly the stories ended. I would love to hear more about each of the couple's.

The set is pretty good reading but I really wished there werent so many references to 50 Shades. I wanted to see the story branch out and take on a life of it's own but it was a quick read, although somewhat predictable. I felt like I was reading Christian and Anna all over again.
