This is an absolutely wonderful book. The text is fresh and "sassy" and the beautiful acrylic paintings are vibrant and joyful. "Where the big velvet roses bloom red and pink and fuchsia, where the accordion plays sassy and sweet, where the smell of crispy tacos or buttery tortillas or juicy fruta floats out of every window, and where the paleta wagon rings its tinkly bell and carries a treasure of icy paletas in every color of the sarape...That's my barrio!" A delightful double spread shows the paleta wagon filled with popsicles of every imaginable color, and three eager children rushing to choose a flavor. Read this book aloud; and children and adults alike will remember their cool "paletas" with pleasure.

This is one of my 4 yr old grandson's favorite books, I can read it to him over and over again and he doesn't tire of hearing it. The illustrations are beautiful and bright, and the written content is easy for any child to follow. A great way to learn Spanish, or English, as it is bi-lingual. The book inspires you to want to go out and get a "paleta" (popsicle), especially on a warm day. Definitely a fun book to have.

It was what I expected, my granddaughter, age 6, thought it was great to help her learn Spanish. Loved the story.

Great book with beautiful illustrations. My two year old loves this book. There is one page that I skip, though, I know it may seem uptight but I'm trying to teach my kiddos to be great people so I skip the page where her uncle wins a baseball game by offering the batter a popsicle to distract him so her uncle wins the game (cheating). I know, I know... a lot of you will roll your eyes but that's me and that's how I'm raising my kids! With that tiny exception I love this book.

This colorful picture book brought smiles to my grandchildrens faces, ages 3, 4, 6 and 10. With the book written in both english and spanish it allowed me to read it to my grandchildren in both languages, assisting me in the continued teaching of the spanish language. The demand in learning the spanish language is increasing Tafolla and Morales did a wonderful job at covering the a small portion of what happens in a barrio in both languages. I know a great book when I read it and put it down and my grand children pick it up to read it again and again. They asked questions, participated, learned and discussed, happily being rewarded with a paleta.

Coming from south Texas, I have had a few paletas myself. But for someone who isn't familiar with the Latino culture, this book brings a fun insight that children and adults can enjoy reading about. The colorful and creative artwork shows how you can lick, slurp, and gobble down paletas of all different flavors and colors on a hot summer day. The English text introduces readers to some easy Spanish words. Children will love this juicy treat of a book, and will probably want a popsicle or paleta after reading it.

 This book is incredibly fun if you're into fantasy cartooning.Ben Caldwell has filled the pages with sketches and tips to drawing all sorts of fantasy characters, ranging from heroes, villains, fairies to beasts. The tips given are not just on drawing, but also on developing characteristics and personality into them. That's character design. He talks about everything, from the hair, eye shadows, wrinkles, costumes, postures, smiles and basically anything that you can see.There's a companion website to the book called Action Cartooning. Along with his drawings, Ben provides annecdotes about the mythos of fantasy and heroes,and just what makes them all so appealing.It is fun to first flip through the entire book, and drink in Ben's artwork, and imagine how much fun he had putting this book together. It makes you believe that its as easy to draw these illustrations as it is to watch them!Ben is a master teacher, and takes the time to explain the steps in easy to understand terms, and gives tons of useful content that will benefit the professional and the beginner alike. I give it my highest reccommendation.

This product brings back memories. When I was 5 years old, drew a lot because of this book. It even helped me win awards in the summer fair as a kid. Then I slowly lost the ability to draw. 13 years later, I can barely draw stick figures. I bought this book again and now I think I can start drawing again.As far as packaging goes, it was great. The product's condition was used, but not unusable.

I've spent the better half of a year coveting this book. After reading the great reviews, I finally splurged and purchased it. I do not regret this purchase.Fantasy Cartooning is split into four parts: Cartoon Magic; Heroes and Villians; The Fair Folk; and Ancient Beasts.The examples are presented in pencil drawings, which I personally prefer over the finalized inked versions so many "How to Draw" books present. What I like best about Mr. Caldwell's book is that he doesn't just draw the character, and leave you to assume what he did. With each drawing are notes around said drawing with tips from Mr. Caldwell on how to draw this feature or that feature.I wouldn't consider this a classic "How to Draw" book. More of an examples book, with tips for the artist who has some experience drawing.If you are the type who is frustrated by drawing books that show a circle and a rectangle, than a more defined circle and rectangle with hints of a mouth, eyes, and nose, followed by a finished pencil sketch, this might not be the book for you. Especially if you are just wanting to learn how to draw. This isn't to say I wouldn't purchase this for a child or pre teen, just a child or pre teen that has some training in drawing already. (Be it a formal class or a How to Draw book.)If you have some drawing experience under your belt and are looking for a fun book to help expand your fantasy style, I highly recommend this book.

I have been a huge fan of Mandy Hale since the fateful day I grabbed her first book off the shelf at the book store. Her words have always been encouraging and I was so excited to get my hands on this book. I finally just finished it, and it brought me to tears and met me right where I was at. I’ve previously loved Mandy’s positivity, but I think this book was best of all because she was real and raw. This book is honest. I loved every page of it because it was so relatable and beautifully written. I didn’t realize how much I needed this message. My similar struggles with love, heartbreak, anxiety and so much more have made me believe I wasn’t enough. In this book, Mandy helped me reframe those thoughts and realize that I am enough. I won’t pretend like the book has waved a magic wand and changed my whole life, but it’s given me a much needed change in perspective, and I’m excited to see what the future holds. Thank you Mandy for writing this book and for keeping it real!

If you follow Mandy Hale, many of the stories in this book will be familiar. Much like her previous books, the author pulls heavily from writings she’s already shared through her blogs and social media posts. This isn’t a bad thing - she is a talented storyteller - and she continues to share her experiences with an openness and honesty that has endured her to her readers like an old friend. The author’s connection with her readers provides a platform on which great things can be built. The tag line of overcoming heartbreak, claiming healing, and stepping into wholeness describes the journey Mandy Hale (bravely!) publicly walks in this book. Things that we don’t often discuss freely in society - wrestling with a sense of lack, questioning our faith, struggling in the pursuit of mental wellness - are discussed. By allowing herself to be vulnerable, the author brings us a powerful story. The last chapter lost some of that power because the timeline didn’t ring true (for example, her kayaking trip was about a month before she lost her friend, so how were they there mourning her loss and feeling her spirit in the breeze?... very distasteful writing). However, as I continued reading I realized the timeline was manipulated for a “bookend” story arc about tattoos, which left me as a reader feeling manipulated and wondering if I could trust the honesty of other parts of her story. The book seems part memoir, part spiritual encouragement, part mental health advocacy... sort of a “hero’s journey” in which she goes through hard things and comes out with a treasure to bring back to her readers. It’s a reminder that the power of our story lies in our struggle, and we can help one another along by sharing it.

I’ve been waiting for this book an entire year ! Since Mandy announced it on social media I have been so excited about it’s launch date !!! Which is TODAY ! I’m on chapter four already (thanks to the car pick up line at my daughter’s school). Once again she did not disappoint ! Everyone needs to read this book Bc at some point and time everyone has had loss or felt like they weren’t ENOUGH. It’s raw and gets down into the parts of life some might try to hide ... it’s about REAL LIFE stuff. It already has me in my feelings and I LOVE that. Mandy, thank you so much for beautiful book.

Mandy’s writing makes you feel like you are in her shoes. Going through her grief, her depression, her happiness, her highs, her lows, and most importantly like you want to hug your best friend and say ‘You are ENOUGH’. That best friend could be you. I have been through those dark times and wished I had this book then. But through the strength of God and believing he was by my side, I pulled through. Ladies if you are like me and have doubts of being ENOUGH, then this book is a must read! Mandy shares her life experiences with us and I found myself thinking "this is me", "I have been there", "I totally am feeling like that" throughout the whole book. She shares in a way that we can connect and relate to her. I have always felt like I'm not enough throughout life and this book reminds me of God's love, timing, and grace & that I am in fact always ENOUGH! It is also a quick read, so whenever I am feeling doubts again I will for sure reread it!! Get it and read it ladies!! It has helped me! :)

Mandy chronicles two years of heartbreak and loss that she experienced. The book is an easy read. I finished it in less than 24 hours. Although she dispenses some helpful advice, this book reads more like a memoir of those 2 years than an actual self-help book. I went in thinking it was a self-help book, but it feels very much lacking in that area (especially if you're looking for Christian guidance). But, as a memoir, I appreciated her honesty and transparency in her trials and her triumphs.I've read all of her books and it's been interesting to see her journey - her ups and downs the past decade - and seeing how much she has grown through all of her experiences.

I can not begin to express the deep intense emotions that I have felt during the reading of this book. It can be so crazy and overwhelming to have the emotions that are associated with depression and anxiety. I thought I was alone. I often think to myself, “how do others do it, life?” But to sit and read this was as amazing as having the ability to take a single breath. Thank you for putting yourself out there for others. For letting others know, they aren’t alone. For letting me know, I am enough <3

This was an invaluable volume for helping me get through law school, and the bar exam. The compact size was really very important: I could (and did) carry it around with me everywhere, in the days before e-books were an option. It continues to be my first choice 20 years after graduating law school. In short, if you need a definition for citation purposes, you probably will (and should) use Black's Law Dictionary. But in order to understand the actual terms, use this volume.For anyone buying a law dictionary for those going to law school (admittedly, a dwindling number), Black's is the more spectacular gift. This Barron's dictionary, however, will be the more useful of the two

I sampled three popular law dictionaries for Kindle (1) Law Dictionary, (Mass Market) 6th Ed. (Barron's Legal Guides) , (2) Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law, and (3) Nolo's Plain-English Law Dictionary. By far, the best I'd seen is Barron's. Among other things, instant search is enabled, and there are hotlinks to related terms. Webster's is next (it's got hotlinks, but shows only one definition per page). Nolo is the worst; it's like all they did was convert the text.Major problem with Barron's: can't search by keywords. Searches bring up index entries only.

A Law Dictionary is absolutely necessary if you study law or you work in the area of law or have anything to do with law. This book is outstanding in understanding terms which otherwise would be Greek to me. Law terms take on new meanings when you understand what is really being said. One word can have nine different concepts and this Law Dictionary will make sure you understand each of those different concepts. This is an excellent reference and a total necessity if you are involved in the study of work in the area of law.

Every law student needs a copy of this book. I keep it in my backpack and probably use it every day, if not to look up a word/phrase for the first time but to reinforce my understanding of certain concepts. (I'm a 1L at the moment.)Also, some professors at my University do not allow electronics in their classroom; I am able to look up concepts that most can't because they can not get online!

I wanted to provide a graduating undergraduate mentee with practical resources for law school as a graduation gift. I ordered this and The Bluebook. While she hasn't yet used either book, as a law professor, I am confident she will get good use out of both. While I am a fan of Black's Law Dictionary, it is not a practical resource for a law student on the go. This is a fictional resource for that use.

Is easy to navigate and comes in handy.

I am a beginner to learning constitutional law for my high school studies. This book contains all of the terms that I have so far come aross. Easy to carry around.

I saw an advertisement on Yahoo for this book, they showed a few recipes like Unicorn Snack Mix, Unicorn Cupcakes, Unicorn Grilled Cheese, Unicorn Bread and Unicorn Pasta just to name a few. It looked like a really cute beginners cookbook for my youngest Granddaughter since she likes every Pink and Girly, she is 12. I bought the book on a shopping trip and picked up another one here on Amazon. Today I finally took the time to look thru the book completely and was shocked to see recipes for Unicorn Jelly Shots and Unicorn Margaritas just to name a few! Obviously not suitable for a child like its marketed. Had I knew this I would not of bought her one!

This book is ADORABLE. I love that it’s not all sugary sweets. There are healthy recipes in here that are still fun and Unicorn-y! Plus beautiful photography, I feel like I could leave it out on my coffee table. It would also make a great Pride present this month, if you’re into that!

So much fun! Great recipes for someone like me who isn't great at cooking but loves to do it regardless!
