Adam White, who scripted the Grammy-nominated radio documentary The Motown Story, was editor-in-chief at Billboard, and coauthored The Billboard Book of Number One Rhythm & Blues Hits. He was vice president of communications at Universal Music Group International from 2002 to 2012.Barney Ales was Berry Gordy’s right-hand man. Ales rose to become Motown’s executive vice president and then served as its president from 1975 to 1978.Andrew Loog Oldham is a record producer, talent manager and author.

This is an amazing book dealing with the entire history of Motown. The photographs are incredible, and the text kept me engaged for days. I already knew about this history, but I learned so much more from this book.
Amazing and rare photos including shots of Diana Ross and the supremes that have never been released.
Just received book today & was surprised by its generous size chock full of color photographs of artists, LP covers, record labels, etc. Barney Ales was known as a true record man and beloved by his staff. Great that Mr. Ales has finally decided to give Motown fans an inside view of the inner workings of this great label, its artists, and the staff that made the hits happen!
The book is like new, as described. This is a comprehensive chronical of Motown from it's humble beginnings. The book includes phots I've never seen in other Motown related material. This is an excellent choice for all Motown fans.
This book exceeded my expectations. I gave it to my mom as a gift, and she loved it! She introduced me to the sounds of Motown when I was a child and it brings back a lot of memories.
